Greetings, everyone! Welcome to Sabbath services! Today we're going to put on our scholarly hats, as it were, so that we can understand some of the Truth of God.

It's very important as we're coming up to the Passover time and the Feast of Unleavened Bread that we understand the purpose of it, and the right timing of it. Paul wrote that '…in the night that Jesus was betrayed…' That's important to understand.

Why as there so much confusion concerning the Passover? First of all, because Satan wants to destroy the knowledge of it! He has people willing to work for him to do it, to insert their own self-righteous ideas into it thinking that they are doing the will of God. Let's just review a few things that Jesus said:

  • Matt. 4:4, Luke 4:4 quoting Deut. 8:3: Man shall not live by bread alone! That means every man, woman and child!
  • But by every Word of God

So, in today's world there are people out there perverting the Word of God. Let's also remember what Jesus said in:

John 17:17: "Sanctify them… [make them Holy] …in Your Truth; Your Word is the Truth."

Psa. 119—Let's see something concerning Truth, because God is a God of Truth, and there is no lie in Him. Who is the father of lies? None other than Satan the devil, and it says at the end-time that he's 'deceiving the whole world'! The ones that he wants to come and really deceive will be those who have the Spirit of God. He's got the whole world locked up in his system!

Sometimes a single verse tells us a lot. We need to think about what it tells us so that we get a full understanding of it. We're going to see that tin edition to false scholars and false teachers, God has preserved true scholars all the way down through history so that we will have the Truth at the end-time.

Psalm 119:142: "Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness…"

Verse 172: "My tongue shall speak of Your Word…"—that's what we are to do!

What did Paul tell Timothy? Preach the Word in season and out of season! For the time will come when they will not tolerate the Truth! But they will want to have myths and follow after the teachings of men.

"…for all… [each and every one] …Your commandments are righteousness" (v 172)

This also tells us that IF His righteousness is everlasting righteousness, THEN His commandments are righteous and everlasting! Anyone who says that they've been done away do not understand!

Verse 151: "You are near, O LORD, and all Your commandments are Truth."

If there's going to be any change to the Laws of God, God must do the changing! That's why Christ came, to bring the spirit of the Law! He also came to:

  • become the sacrifice for the sin of the whole world
  • become High Priest in heaven above for the people of God on the earth

"…all Your commandments are Truth."

Verse 160: "Your Word is true from the beginning…"

This is why Satan likes to have scholars come along and insert things or change things, a little here and a little there. Sometimes a whole lot!

"…and every one of Your righteous ordinances endures forever" (v 160).

Concerning the temple sacrifices and the priest laws, the sacrifice now is Christ! The priest laws no longer apply in the way that Christ setup the priesthood under the Old Covenant. But that did not get rid of the rest of the commandments of God. What God did was replace the letter of the Law commandment for the spirit of the Law! Not that you just do the outward things of the Law, but that you have them written in your heart and mind. That's a higher level.

Whenever someone says that God did away with this, that or the other, remind them that He replaced it with something of higher spiritual value.

  • Is not the sacrifice of Christ better than all the sacrifices at the temple?
  • Is not praying to God directly in heaven above greater than making a journey to Jerusalem to go to a temple? Yes!
  • Is not Jesus' statements of loving God, loving your enemies greater than what He had in the Old Testament? Yes, indeed!

Anything that has been changed has been raised to a high spiritual level. That's what the Passover is all about!

Let's see what Jesus commanded the disciples. This becomes important and why we have the four Gospels and all the Epistles. I tell you what, this is a quick read for everybody, but you might take a little time to think about it as you're reading. Read 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. Ask: Is there any hint that God, through Christ, did away with any of His Laws?

There are some mis-translations in 1-John 3 where the word practice—you shall not practice sin—the one who is converted will not practice sin. But the King James Version reads 'cannot sin.' In that particular case the word practice applies to everyone who is practicing lawlessness is sinning (The Faithful Version), and practice is carried through all the verses.

Go back and read 1-John 1 and it says that if anyone sinsJohn was writing to Christians—we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous! If we confess our sins He'll forgive us our sins!

In 1-John 5 if we see a brother sin a sin not unto death, we're to pray for him!

With all of that said, we're going to cover some things concerning the Passover, because the Passover is the key thing for the New Testament.

Matthew 28:18: "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.'"

That's quite a sweeping statement! It's not delegated to men. It's not given to a pope. God's Word is over all coming directly from Christ.

Verse 19: "Therefore, go and make disciples in all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

That is not establishing a Trinity! When we baptize we do it this way"

…baptize you into the name of the Father for the begettal of the Holy Spirit, and of the Son because His sacrifice paid for you sins to be blotted out, and of the Holy Spirit, which God alone can send.

So, don't let anybody tell you that this is Trinitarian! It doesn't establish it at all!

We have a brand new booklet coming out: What is the Holy Spirit, and it is the finest booklet on the Holy Spirit ever produced! Steven Greene and I worked on this and he put it together. It goes through in great detail.

Verse 20: "Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even until the completion of the age.' Amen."

He will never leave us! Isn't that what Jesus said in Heb. 13? I will not every leave you, no I will not forsake you! I the Greek there are five negatives: not, will not, never

If Jesus said that, and He's the Way, the Truth and the Life, guess what that means: He will not ever leave us, even though we become few. Her on live streaming, you're still assembling together though you are a alone. It's the Sabbath Day and we're studying the Word of God.

We have online: The Passover of the Bible and the Church Today by Lester L. Grabbe and Robert L. Kuhn (1978) {https://www.cbcg.org/holy-days/the-passover-of-the-bible-and-the-church-today.html}

This you need to have! It has all my comments that I wrote on it when I first got it in 1978 at the Elder's Conference in Pasadena. Let me explain what happened, but before I get to that, understand this:

The takedown of Worldwide Church of God was because of the sins of the ministers, Herbert Armstrong and the brethren. Concerning Herbert Armstrong, I know from first person testimony who talked to him during the last two years of life that he repented of his sins.

However, there were those who were infiltrators that came into the Church. Robert Kuhn and Stan Rader. If you understand one thing, Robert Kuhn was a temple-going man. He had, I think, three PhD degrees. He came from the Kuhn-Loeb banking family in New York City to Pasadena to be a student, and they gave him the job of wiping up excess ink off the floor of the press where they printed The Plain Truth magazine.

It didn't take him long to get Garner Ted Armstrong's attention. That was Kuhn's main object, to control Ted. That was pretty simple; a little Scotch and women and you've got him controlled.

Stan Rader was to control Herbert Armstrong, which he ended up doing. But during the third year before Armstrong died, the few righteous ones in Pasadena were able to set up a meeting with him to convince him to fire Stan Rader. We have to back up a little bit so you understand what happens, and the background as to why this paper was written.

It was the first 'shot over the bow' to come after the true Passover of God. In this it's written that they didn't even know where the name Passover came from. It says in Exo. 12, this is the Lord's Passover!

Let me just add one more thing: I know from first person testimony of a man named Timmons. He and his wife were the ones who sued Worldwide Church of God so that it went into receivership. But who advised them to do it? My knowledge is from his mouth to my ears! Robert L. Kuhn advised them to sue under the Charitable Law Acts!

The case went to a judge in Los Angeles who was a Jew. The prosecutor was a Jew. Deukmejian was running for governor of California, and he needed the Jewish vote. Why did they want to do this? Because Herbert Armstrong had congestive heart failure and was in Tucson, AZ. They thought that when Armstrong heard that the Church was put into receivership, which locked up all the finances, that he would drop dead of a heart attack. Who would have taken over? Stanley R. Rader!

Well, God didn't let that happen! He did not let that happen! So, Rader could not be exposed for what he was, so he had to defend the Church. He got a Petris Law by Assemblyman Petris passed in Sacramento that churches cannot be taken into receivership under charitable laws because they are churches, not charities.

With all of that said, I want you to understand what they were doing with the Passover. I want you to also know that all of this I knew before I resigned in 1979. I didn't resign on a whim! I resigned to stand for the Truth!

I remember that God inspired me, and the exact words to this very day! I remember standing in the pulpit with Ron Reedy and LeRoy Neff. I prayed that they wouldn't come and take me down while I was speaking. Is said that 'unless there is someone standing in the pulpit in Pasadena today telling the Church to amend their ways, that the forces of evil would be set in motion to destroy the Church!'

That had to be God's inspiration because it didn't have any of that in my notes; all I had was a listing of Scriptures. Did that happen? Yes! But it took 12 years. The disintegration of the Church started with the changing of the Passover from the true day to the Jewish day!

Then when all of the ones who took down WCG and changed the doctrines, they now keep the Lord's Supper. In some cases, every week.

So, you can see how important the true Passover is. Every one of us have a duty to guard the Truth! To keep the Truth ourselves in our own mind as the central focus of what we do and what we believe.

This occurred to me at my first Passover in 1961, talking about the lamb:

Exodus 12:2 (KJV): "This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you."

Then they were to get a lamb on the 10th day of the month (v 3). Then it gives the instruction that there is to one per household, or if the household is too small then two small households take it together.

Verse 5: "Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats."

Keep that in mind, because kid goats can also signify Christ by the sacrifice of it. Here's the key verse:

Verse 6: "And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month. And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening."

What is evening? The whole paper of Kuhn and Grabbe revolves around misinterpreting evening! They were not even honest enough to go to the original Hebrew to tell us the time.

Verse 7: "And they shall take of the blood and strike it on the two side posts and upon the upper doorpost of the houses"—and they were to roast it with fire and eat it with unleavened bread.

Keep this in mind and notice v 9, because this becomes important when we come to Deut. 16. There's another complete interpretation by the Jews, which is followed to this day. A 15th Passover based upon their interpretation of Deut. 16, and the King James has made a mistranslation that we'll talk about later.

Verse 9: "Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water… [that's in important, keep that in mind for later on] …but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the pertinence thereof…. [heart, liver and kidneys]And you shall not let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remain of it until the morning you shall burn with fire" (vs 9-10).

Verse 18—talking about the Feast of Unleavened Bread. I remember Ron Kelly standing in the pulpit explaining this when he read it—1961

Verse 18: "In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even…"

He said that this even was the next even. But over here it says that you're to keep it up until the 14th day of the first month (v 6). I asked myself: How do I know that? He didn't explain it! It was never explain and never taught in WCG the way that it should have been taught. To this day there are Churches of God who call the Passover the Lord's Supper, when Paul said, It is not the Lord's supper! You can't get any stronger than that!

I started doing a lot of research. Actually, what happened after I resigned in 1979 we started the Biblical Church of God and we had to leave that because those men wanted to set up a hierarchy like WCG. They were evil and mean to us, so we had to quit that.

Then we started the Christian Biblical Church of God and I decided that should be the name because there was not enough Christianity in the Biblical Church of God. These men turned out to be politicians wanting to control.

They wanted to control so much that they even said that 'we don't want you putting your name on anything that you write.' I said, 'That's very inviting, isn't it? To write a letter to Dear Committee? You would want to know who wrote it! That was just one of the miserable things that we went through. So, I quit writing after we left. From 1983 until 1992 I didn't write a thing!

The reason I didn't because I said to myself, God has provided seven faithful brethren and if my job between now and the return of Christ is to take care of these seven brethren to see them faithfully into their place of safety in the grave, then that's my mission in life!

I'm not going to try and do some big thing and run down the road and say that 'this is the work of God, this is the work of God' and people must follow it. NO! I stayed with the group of seven and everything started with that. That's when I first sat down to speak. Just think how stupid it would have been to have a lectern and stand up and look down at seven people. That would have been arrogant and overbearing!

For that ten years I didn't write a thing. However, starting in 1990 I did start translating the General Epistles. I made study papers with columns and wide side margines to write on. We started with James, then 1st & 2nd Peter, 1st, 2nd & 3rd John and Jude.

Then I got a letter, because the Passover problem had come up again. This person asked me to please fully explain it and to write him back on it. That's when I began to write again. I had Carl Franklin and his wife Jeannie in Michigan to do the editing. I started out by saying to the brethren in this area—by that time we have about 14-15 people—and I said that I was going to have to write about the Passover and we have to be very thorough with it and we need to everything we need to cover and I think it will be about 75 pages.

Well, I was writing and writing, and it got up to 75 pages and we had just barely started. Maybe it will be 125 pages. So, we're writing and writing and putting it all together getting all the problems and difficulties concerning the Passover. Finally, I got to 150 pages. Everyone was laughing at me because it was expanding.

It turned out to be 300 pages, and here is the first edition published in 1993 (shown on video). I corrected all the problems of Exodus and Deuteronomy. They're there! Then in 1995 I made a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, and Bob and Evelyn Hunnicutt met me at the airport. Bob had to do something because he was building contractor. So, Evelyn said, 'how would you like to go to Books-a-Million. I said, 'What's that?' She said that is was big bookstore that is quite a chain in the Midwest.

Guess what the first place I went to was? Where the Bibles were on display! I found this Bible: The Schocken Bible Vol. 1—The Five Books of Moses by Everett Fox

Having written what we had written for the Passover book up to that time, the first thing I did was see if he was honest. Did he translate the proper translation of the Hebrew words:

  •  'ben ha arbayim'—which means between the two evenings
  • 'ba erev'—which means sunset

That's how I wrote it in the first edition of The Christian Passover book. Remember, this was published in 1993. I didn't have this Schocken Bible until 1995.

Exodus 12:6 (SB): "It shall be for you in safekeeping, until the fourteenth day after this New-moon… [first day of the month] …and they are to slay it…"

It's not an offering at the temple. Where were the Israelites on their first Passover? At home!

"…the entire assembly of the community of Israel-between the setting-times" (v 6)—'ben ha arbayim'

I remember Belinda Davis, when I was giving this in a series of sermons and so forth, she came up to me one day and said, 'If I hear be ha arbayim again I'm going to scream.'

Verse 11—the KJV says that you're to eat it in haste. That's not correct! You're to eat in trepidation:

Verse 11 (SB): "…you are to eat it in trepidation…"

I had this translated—v 18—two years before I ever saw this Bible.

Verse 18: (SB): In the first (month), on the fourteenth day after the New-moon, at sunset, you are to eat Matzot… [unleavened bread] …until the twenty-first day of the month, at sunset."

What ends the day and begins the new day? Sunset! I looked at that standing there in the book store and I said, 'That's it! He's got it right!' I felt really good about that.

Verse 21 (SB): "Moshe had all the elders of Israel called and said to them: Pick out, take yourselves a sheep for your clans, and slay the Passover-animal." Doesn't say offering!

Verse 22: (SB): "Now you-you are not to go out, any man… [anyone] …from the entrance to his house, until daybreak."

In this paper by Kuhn and Grabbe they lie and say that the Jews—Israelites at that time—reckoned the new day to begin at midnight. That is an absolute blatant lie! And they also said that they could leave as soon as the firstborn of the Egyptians were slain at midnight.

Have you ever tried to herd flocks of goats, sheep, cattle and horses at night? Midnight? But there were those people who said, 'Oh, this is so good!' Because they were never grounded in the Truth!

That's what we're going to do today, ground everyone in the Truth! Everything that we do must be done by the Truth of God as He wants it!

(break@43:57)

This paper by Kuhn and Grabbe—The Passover of the Bible and the Church Today—is online at truthofGod.org and it has my original notes as I was reading it for the first time in 1978.

The following Scriptures in Leviticus and Exodus are from The Schocken Bible: The Five Books of Moses by Everett Fox

Another interesting note: We had some brethren in Texas who invited me down to their place when we had published the first edition of the Passover book. Garner Ted Armstrong had been put out of the Church (WCG) and went to Tyler, Texas, and opened up Church of God International (CGI).

He had promised to take me down to the physical headquarters that Ted had in Tyler, TX. I had the first edition of the Passover book to give to him. We got there and someone met us and I told them who I was and had something to give to Ted. They said, 'He's busy right now and won't be here until about an hour and a half' from then. I said all right. We left and I figured in my own mind that that was a stand off.

So I decided to go back in a half hour. We came back through the entrance, and guess who was walking down the hallway? Garner Ted Armstrong! He said, 'Hi, Fred!' Shook hands, and it was like shaking hands with a wet Salmon; cold and nothing to it.

I said, 'I have a book for you, The Christian Passover book.' He says, 'I have a meeting, take it to Ron Dart and he will take it for me.' So, we went down to Ron Dart's office and he looked at it and said, 'Why do you have to have 300 pages (that's what it was at that time; it grew to 500 pages) on something as simple as the Passover,' because Dart and Armstrong believed Kuhn!

I told him why we did it and so forth, and he thanked me for it, and completely disregarded the book. He had a man working there, Keith Slough, who has had online for a number of years a presentation against the Passover book. I watched it completely a couple years ago, he never read the book!

Remember what George Patton said when he saw Rommel's formation of tanks coming toward him: Rommel, I read your damn book!

If you want to know something, read it! Then look and see if there is Truth. That's what I did with the Schocken Bible

Leviticus 23:1:1 (SB): "YHVH spoke to Moshe, saying: 'Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: The appointed-times of YHVH, which you are to proclaim to them (as) proclamations of holiness-these are they, My appointed-times:'" (vs 1-2).

Let's understand something very important: God owns them! They are His!

  • the Sabbath
  • the Passover
  • all the Holy Days

God owns!As a matter of fact, in:

Mark 2:27[transcriber's correction] (FV): "And He said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath; therefore, the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath'" (vs 27-28). Jesus is not Lord of Sunday!

In the Greek, Lord of the Sabbath is written in the genitive case, meaning personal possession! So, if anyone wanted to know the truth about the Sabbath in the New Testaments—and what Jesus thinks about it—He said clearly, 'I own it!' Also, with all the holidays that the world follows. God was never in it! Those are the days which we are told in Deut. 12 we are not to do as the heathen!

Leviticus 23:2: "…these are they, my appointed-times: For six days may work be done, but on the seventh day (is) Sabbath, Sabbath-ceasing, a proclamation of holiness, any-kind of work you are not to do. It is Sabbath to YHVH, throughout all your settlements. These are the appointed-times of YHVH, proclamations of holiness, which you are to proclaim at their appointed-times" (vs 2-4).

Who appointed the times? God did! God is telling us that He has made an appointment with us on these days. Do we want to come and meet that appointment with God where God puts His presence or not?

Verse 5: "On the first New-moon… [month] …on the fourteenth after the New-moon, between the setting-times (is) Passover to YHVH.

Footnote (SB): Between the setting times: between the time that the sun is below the horizon, no longer visible and total darkness.

That's as clear a definition as you can get! Furthermore, you cannot find the words 'ben ha arbayim'—between the two evenings or between the setting times, between sunset and dark—in Strong's Concordance.

The only way it can be found is if you diligently search and take a lot of time for these different words. Then you may come up with it. But all the references of 'ben ha arbayim' in Strong's Concordance are under 'erev,' which is evening.

So, Strong's Concordance won't help anybody in this case. A little word about Strong's Concordance: it is good, but it is limited, extremely limited, especially when it comes to verbs and participles.

An idiomatic rendition would be "at twilight."

Fox knows the Truth!

Verse 32 (SB)—concerning Atonement: "It is Sabbath, a Sabbath-ceasing for you, you are to afflict your selves; on the ninth (day) after the New-moon, at sunset, from sunset to sunset, you are to make-a-ceasing of your ceasing!"

What did he just describe for us? I want you to analyze it: "…on the ninth (day) after the New-moon, at sunset, from sunset to sunset…"

That defines a day! It ends at sunset and a new one begins at sunset! It takes only about five minutes for the sun to set. Then that begins 'ben ha arbayim' because he give the definition here:

Footnote (SB) for v 5: between the setting times: Between the time that the sun is below the horizon… [sunset] …no longer visible and total darkness.

That's between the two evenings! That is the beginning of the day. If you've ever seen a picture from space showing the earth, you can see it where there's the day portion and a night portion. If you look carefully, there is a strip of light following sunset where it progressively gets darker.

Just like sunset goes around the earth, because the earth is turning, and between the two evenings follows, and night follows after that. Let's take this from sunset to sunset; that is 'ba erev.'

Exodus 12:18 (SB): "In the first (month), on the fourteenth day after the New-moon, at sunset…"

  • What does that do? Think abut the number of the day, the 14th at sunset.
  • What did we read in Lev. 23:32? From the 9th day at sunset, sunset unto sunset, you shall observe your Sabbath!

Exo. 12:18 ends the 14th, because this is 'ba erev' the end of the day. That's why when you are when you are here in:

Verse 6: "It shall be for you in safekeeping, until… [up to] …the fourteenth day after this New-moon, and they are to slay it-the entire assembly of the community of Israel-between the setting-times"—'ben ha arbayim,' which follows sunset on the 13th and begins the 14th. Very clear!

But those who want to change it, like they wanted to in this paper, pay no attention to it.

What we are seeing in v 18 is the 14th, the end of the day and v 6 is the beginning of the day.

Verse 18: "In the first (month), on the fourteenth day after the New-moon, at sunset… [ending the day] …you are to eat matzot, until the twenty-first day of the month, at sunset"—that ends the 21st day!

Verse 19: "For seven days, no leaven is to be found in your houses, for whoever eats what ferments, that person shall be cut off from the community of Israel, whether sojourner or native of the land." He described the Feast of Unleavened Bread!

What came first, the day before? The Passover! To combine them together—the Passover and the first day of Unleavened Bread—violates the Hebrew when it's properly translated!

I've got a man in So. Africa who has sent me volumes of stuff trying to tell me that the Passover and first day of Unleavened Bread are combined together. They are not combined together! That is a Jewish myth! They are not! A Jewish misunderstanding and misinterpretation that is incorrect!

We will show maybe next week that the Passover Day itself is also an unleavened day!

  • Were they to eat unleavened bread with the Passover meal? Yes they were!
  • Did they get up in the morning and run down to McDonald's and get a hamburger? No, they did not!

We'll prove that!

Kuhn and Grabbe also said in this paper that the children of Israel could start leaving right after midnight and that Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh. We will see that that is not true!

Verse 21: "Moshe had all the elders of Israel called and said to them: Pick out, take yourselves a sheep for your clans, and slay the Passover-animal."

Let's see what it's called in just a minute. It's not called a Passover Offering! Keep that in mind when we come to Deut. 16 in another message.

Verse 22: "Then take a band of hyssop, dip (it) in the blood which is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two posts with some of the blood, which is in the basin.…"

This is very emphatic in the Hebrew! "…Now you-you are not to go out, any man from the entrance to his house, until daybreak" (v 22)—'boqer'—sunrise, as we have it in the Faithful Version!

Remember that I had that all covered two years before I ever knew that there was a Schocken Bible.

Verse 23: "YHVH will proceed to deal-blows to Egypt, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two posts, YHVH will pass over the entrance, and will not give the bringer-of-ruin (leave) to come into your houses to deal-the-blow."

Verse 26: And it will be, when your children say to you: What does this service (mean) to you? then say: It is the slaughter-meal of Passover to YHVH…" (vs 26-27)—not a sacrifice! Keep that in mind for when come to Deut. 16.

"…who passed over the houses of the Children of Israel in Egypt, when he dealt-the-blow to Egypt and our houses he rescued. The people did homage and bowed low. And the Children of Israel went and did as YHVH had commanded Moshe and Aharon, thus they did" (v 27-28)—which means that:

  • they killed the lamb at the beginning of the 14th
  • they didn't go out of the door of their house until daybreak, sunrise

Verse 29: "Now it was in the middle of the night: YHVH struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the captive in the dungeon, and every firstborn of beast. Pharaoh arose at night, he and all his servants and all Egypt, and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there is not a house in which there is not a dead man. He had Moshe and Aharon called in the night and said…" (vs 29-31).

Let's see something very interesting, go back to Exo. 11 and see what Moses said to Pharaoh.

Exodus 11:4: "Moshe said: 'Thus says YHVH… [talking to Pharaoh and his servants] …In the middle of the night I will go forth throughout the midst of Egypt, and every firstborn shall die throughout the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the maid who is behind the handmill, and every firstborn of beast. Then shall there be a cry throughout all the land of Egypt, the like of which has never been, the like of which will never be again. But against all the Children of Israel, no dog shall even sharpen its tongue, against either man or beast, in order that you may know that YHVH makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel'" (vs 4-7).

Notice the v 8 proves that Moses and Aaron did not go to Pharaoh when he called for them! This the paper Kuhn and Grabbe say that Moses could go right after midnight because Pharaoh called him. See what happens when you read a paper like this and you don't prove it by the Word of God.

What are we told in the New Testament to do? Prove all things! Going right back to where I started with this message, Truth! That's what we need!

Verse 8: "Then all these your servants shall go down to me, they shall bow to me… [Moses] …saying: 'Go out, you and all the people who walk in your footsteps! And afterward I will go out.' He went out from Pharaoh in flaming anger."

He looked right at Pharaoh and all of his lieutenants and everybody there. Think about all the plagues and everything that happened up to this point! He told Pharaoh, 'You are going to come down and ask us to go! So, they did not leave their houses until morning!

What do we have? In the day portion they all gathered together!

Exodus 12:31: "He had Moshe and Aharon called in the night and said…"

How did he called him? He sent his servants, his high lieutenants and commanders who were not firstborn, and said:

"…'Arise, go out from amidst my people, even you, even the Children of Israel! Go, serve YHVH according to your words, even your sheep, even your oxen, take, as you have spoken, and go! And bring-a-blessing even on me! Egypt pressed the people strongly, to send them out quickly from the land, for they said: We are all dead-men!" (vs 31-33).

Let's analyze all of this together:

  • the lamb was slain at the beginning of the 14th between the two evenings or setting times, between sunset and dark
  • they roasted the lamb and ate it
  • they burn whatever is left
  • they're already to go, but they can't go out of the door of their houses until sunrise
  • then they spoiled all of the Egyptians

Verse 35: "Now the Children of Israel had done according to Moshe's words…."

  • Was Moses' words 'don't go out of your house until sunrise'?
  • Was Moses' words 'kill the lamb between sunset and dark'?
  • Was Moses' words 'to burn what was left over'?

Why did he say to burn what was left over? Because God didn't want someone taking part of the skin of the lamb for a good luck charm! People do that!

How many people have a 'rabbit foot'? Moses wanted them to know that God alone did this, and you're not to put any stock in any physical thing!

"…they had asked of the Egyptians objects of silver and objects of gold, and clothing; YHVH had given the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they let themselves be asked of. So did they strip Egypt" (vs 35-36).

Not just taking a few things, they stripped it, and that was on the day portion of the 14th, because they couldn't go out of the door of their houses until sunrise! So, we know that they did this on their way to Rameses. In order to leave, Moses had to have it all figured out in what to do. They had to have instructions, and the tribes had to line up in marching order.

You don't just come as a big group and say, 'Where do we go?' Being a former general in the Egyptian army, Moses knew that they had to be organized. So, he organized them tribe by tribe. They couldn't be too wide of a marching order because you're going out into the desert.

I have in The Christian Passover book an estimation of how long the column would have been. It would have been perhaps a couple of miles long, maybe longer. Then I used the Rose Parade in Pasadena because that's similar to it when all the marching bands come and I figured how long it would take for the last one to leave Rameses. They couldn't all leave at once.

Just like the parade that they have on New Year's Day in Pasadena, the Rose Parade, they don't all start marching at once, but they go when it's their time to go.

God had the children of Israel all organized. We're not told this directly, but we can know that that happened, because that's the instruction later on when they had the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant, and they had four tribes on the East, four on the North, four on West, and four on the South. The first one out was the tribe of Judah. In the middle were the Levites and everything pertaining to the tabernacle.

Verse 37: "The Children of Israel moved on from Ra'amses to Sukkot, about six hundred thousand on foot, menfolk apart from little-ones, and also a mixed multitude went up with them, along with sheep and oxen, an exceedingly heavy (amount of) livestock. Now they baked the dough…" (vs 37-39)—unleavened bread.

Now, this involves the 430 years. I asked Michael Heiss how the Jews figure the 430 years vs the 400 years. We have a chart on that online, which you can download, by Roger Tointon who did an excellent job in laying that all out.

Verse 40: "And the settlement of the Children of Israel which they had settled in Egypt was thirty years and four hundred years. It was at the end of thirty years and four hundred years, it was on that same day…" (vs 40-41).

We'll go back to Gen. 15 next week and see what happened with Abraham, because it says 400 years there. I'll give you a quick review:

  • there was 15 years between the promises given in Gen. 15 and when Isaac was born

That leaves us 15 more years to account for

  • when God asked Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering, he must have been 15-years-old

So, 15 at the beginning, 400 years, and 15 at the ending—430 years.

Verse 41: "It was at the end of thirty years and four hundred years, it was on that same day All of YHVH'S forces went out from the land of Egypt. It is a night of keeping-watch for YHVH, to bring them out of the land of Egypt; that is this night for YHVH, a keeping-watch of all the Children of Israel, throughout their generations" (vs 41-42).

It's translated in the Faithful Version: The Night to be Much Observed! Separate from the Passover!

If there's anyone out there who doesn't have The Christian Passover book, you'll get the third edition. The total number of Passover books we've sent out through the years is about 35,000, free!

We put all tithes and offerings strictly for the things for the Church, for doing what God wants done in running the office and paying the payroll for that and whatever expenses we have. I do not draw a large salary because I don't need it.

This book you need to have to keep, to read, to study. I've had people tell me that they bring the book out every year and read it from January until the Passover time. For us, as we will see that that is the most important thing for us! This is why that Satan likes to take advantage of confusion and cause confusion, and try and change things and modify them from God's way to his way.

Anything to keep you from knowing the Truth, the pure Truth, and nothing but the Truth! That's what Satan wants to do! He wants to come along with a clever sounding argument, an 'innocent' little lie, and then you know the whole lesson of Unleavened Bread.

Just like we covered in the state of the nation today: How did we get so bad? A little leaven leavens the whole lump!
